006 Inhuman Races

While humanoid, these races do not closely resemble humans, and are often shunned and deeply misunderstood by the other races due to their severe cultural differences.  See Culture of the Onk for some insight into the hows and whys.

Onk
  • Sophisticated culture, but warlike. Deeply based in family honor and individual merit.
  • Based on ungulates, with several major subgroups
    • suidae: pigs, boars, warthog
      • omnivorous, muscular, with broad faces, tusks, and large, flat fronted noses
    • ruminants: deer, goats, bovine
      • herbivorous, muscular, with broad faces, horns, and large, round noses
    • camelids (rare): camel, alpaca, llama
      • herbivorous, extremely hardy, with long faces, large noses, and mis-happen spines
    • Hippopotamidae (rare):
      • herbivore, extraordinarily muscular, with broad faces, large noses, and very bad attitudes
  • Racial Talent: transform organics like rich soil, compost, meat, fats and oils
    • They can eat and drink nearly anything, without need for preparation with heat and water. This talent means they can make compost/carrion itself a source of nutrition.  This ability, while disgusting to the more “civilized” species, has let the Onk develop an appreciation for the finer nuances and character of foods most anyone else would consider inedible.
    • Onk with advanced skill in their racial talent can craft explosive fuels, make fuel burn hotter, longer, and/or more efficiently
Gob:
  • Often hangers-on to the Onk or the Skrit, fitting in where they can be useful, but often pushed to the edges because they’re not as strong or inherently honorable as the Onk, nor as religiously fervent as the Skrit.
  • Based on frogs, salamanders, geckos
  • seen as ugly, gangly, with strange proportions
  • independently rotating eyes; froggy pupils
  • Racial Talent:
    • Chemistry, non food based. making adhesives, acids, drugs, poisons, dyes.
    • Can also make things non-poisonous…  For example, they can heat or wash rancid or rotten food to make it non-toxic and edible, and they can do the same with water.
Skrit
  • Maintain their own strict civilizations, building empires in harsh climates they can adapt to be more comfortable.
  • Deeply religious, with correspondingly powerful gods.
  • They have a sophisticated but alien culture that doesn’t value individual liberty or life and allows slavery, deadly games for the amusement of the powerful, and consuming other sentients as food.
  • Based on lizards, gators, scaled reptiles
  • Flat, noseless faces with vertical slit nostrils, forked tongues, reptilian eyes, hairless, with bizarre skin colors (commonly bone white faces with red and black stripes on their hairless scalps.)
  • Racial Talent:
    • change local temperature, humidity, pressure, and affect solid/fluid/gaseous states
