Bush is a hermit that lives on his own in a bramble patch near Lockhaven. He’s well known among the Guard, and occasionally called upon when they need someone with his particular talents, but only when they’re willing to put up with his idiosyncracies.

Bramble is a young Guard mouse that has the blessing/curse of Fierce. She’s quick to anger, but quick to forgive. She’s recently finished her apprenticeship under her mentor Thistle, and is eager to strike out on her first real Patrol.

Thistle has been around the block a few times, and is quite well regarded within the Guard. He’s turned down several offered promotions to Captain, because he feels he can do more good out in the field.

Oliver has had a hard life, and was raised in an unusually malcontent family in one of the larger urban cities to the South. Crime and deception are uncommon among mice, but poor Oliver was raised in it. His family was caught in a profound scheme and the adults were banished, but the Guard took him in and has given him another chance. He’s managed to keep his whiskers clean through his apprenticeship, has earned the trust of his mentors, and is finally about to start his first real Patrol.
